Spring Kickoff Recap and Farm Science Kid’s Class

March 1st, 2023

We had a great deal of fun with everyone that came out for our Spring Kickoff Celebration at the Farmers Market on Saturday! It was the perfect way to mark the beginning of a new season on the farm. Our rainbow carrots proved to be a hot commodity at the veggie wagon (we had to take a couple of breaks to harvest more!) and we enjoyed seeing those of you that fell in love with the mild flavor of our Wasabina mustard greens. We also loved how excited everyone was over our tomato transplants! We can’t wait to hear how they’re doing in your gardens.

During our farm tour, we were able to meet one of the original Harvest Green residents and answer several great questions about crops and seasonality. We also got to show off our newly transplanted tomato rows! Meanwhile, the goats and chickens got to spend quality time with a lot of special visitors. They wanted us to pass along a mighty big THANK YOU for all of the treats you gave them!

At our kitchen garden planting station, we got to help a lot of you plant seeds for peas, lettuces, and herbs. We have a feeling they’re already starting to sprout so make sure to keep taking care of them! If your kiddo loved taking part in that activity, you should definitely check out our Farm Science Kid’s class coming up this Saturday, March 4th from 2-3pm on the farm. Led by Farmer Bethany, this children's class will explore all of the living parts of our soil, plants, and animals with plenty of hands-on activities. This class is for kids aged 8-12 years and is open to the public! You can secure your spot here.
