Preparing for Pizza Night and a New Team Member

We can’t wait to fire up the oven for our Pizza and Movie event coming up next Friday, December 20th! Rather than getting tickets ahead of time, you’ll be able to stop by the farm and purchase pizzas on Friday, December 20th from 5-7pm while supplies last. You can stay and enjoy your pizza on the farm along with our holiday movie beginning at 6:30pm, or you can take your pizza to go and dine at home. We will be offering four different wood-fired pizza options: cheese, pepperoni, veggie, or supreme. Once you order your pizza(s), we will cook it in our wood-fired pizza oven and box it up for you. This event is for residents of Harvest Green and does not require a ticket but pizzas are available while supplies last on a first come, first served basis.
We are excited to introduce you to our newest Farm Team member, Alyssa! Originally from the Northeast, she moved to the Houston area 2 years ago and has been enjoying learning how to grow in a new climate. Her first farming job 5 years ago had a dedicated community garden for local residents to rent and tend to their own plot. The experience of learning to grow her own food while helping others do the same is what solidified her career path in the farming world. If you see Alyssa around the farm, make sure to say hello and ask her about her favorite crop to grow!
Scallions are back in season at the Farm Stand! They can be enjoyed both raw and cooked and are a great way to lend a mellow onion flavor to your favorite recipes. The white and lighter green portions tend to have a stronger, more pungent flavor and stand up better during cooking. The darker green tops have a more delicate flavor that makes them perfect for garnishing. We recommend trying a Chinese scallion pancake (recipe here) or using them to garnish noodles or ramen.
