Looking Back on a Productive 2024
January 3rd, 2025
Happy New Year! As we gear up for 2025, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the highlights and milestones from last year. Here are some of our favorites:
We harvested 34,000 pounds of produce for our community! That is about 4,000 pounds more than 2023.
With your help, we planted the second half of the fig orchard in the spring for a total of 110 trees. All of these trees are very young but over the next few years we will start to have an abundance of figs that will be available at the market as well as some u-pick community days and opportunities. In the fall, we hosted our very first fig orchard beautification day. We’ll have more orchard days in the future so keep an eye out!
This is the first year we were able to grow tomatoes in our tunnels which allowed us to extend their season longer than any previous years. It also meant that we had another successful La Tomatina Padre with Harvest Green residents!
Our tunnels also allowed us to extend the season of our peppers well into the fall with some of the plants growing taller than Farmer Ky!
We weathered both a derecho and Hurricane Beryl. Despite the damage, we were able to continue harvesting our produce and offering it at the Farm Stand for the community.
We finished out the year with a successful Pizza and Movie Night! We had so much fun making pizzas to order in our oven. We’ll have more pizza nights in the future in case you missed out!
There are many exciting things in the works for 2025 that we are excited to share with you soon. Make sure to stay tuned!
