Fig Orchard Beautification Day on April 5th
March 20th, 2025

Come lend us a hand in adding to the beauty and fruitfulness of Harvest Green during our upcoming Fig Orchard Beautification Day! This volunteer opportunity takes place on Saturday, April 5th from 9am-noon and is a great way to leave your own personal mark in the community. We will be weeding and applying a fresh layer of mulch to our fig orchard that was planted in 2023. This volunteer opportunity is open to the public but we request that you sign up here so we can plan accordingly. All snacks, water, and tools will be provided but we recommend bringing a pair of work gloves.

Remember the flower seeds we started in the greenhouse at the end of January? Our flower patch is fully planted and we’re even starting to see the first blooms from our cosmos! This year we’re growing 15 different flower varieties that will make their way into Mother’s Day bouquets for our special bouquet making activity in May in addition to some cut flower bouquets that will be available at the Farm Stand later this spring. Among the varieties we’re growing are strawflower, rudbeckia, and variegated cockscomb. We can’t wait to share these beautiful flowers with you!

We are excited to share that both peppers and eggplants have been transplanted into our tunnels! The warmth and protection the tunnels provide from the elements will allow these crops to grow swiftly and make their way onto your plate sooner than is possible in the field. We’re not seeing blooms on these crops just yet but we expect to see some in the next couple of weeks. We’re growing both Italian and Asian eggplant varieties this year in addition to a colorful mix of sweet and hot peppers. We’ll keep you updated on their progress and let you know as soon as they make their way to the Farm Stand.
