Farm Tour this Sunday and Neill Elementary Harvest of the Month

September 26th, 2024

We hope you’ll join us this Sunday, September 29th at 1pm for our first Meet the Farm Tour of the fall season! We will be highlighting all of our newly planted fall varieties in both the field and tunnels. And, you’ll get to sample some new fall crops like our braising greens mix! In addition to our fall veggies, we’ll be sharing about summer crops like peppers and zucchini that linger from summer through fall. Our tours are open to the public and free of charge. Make sure to sign up here to reserve your spot!

Something new is making its way to the Farm Stand this weekend: a braising greens mix! It’s made up of hearty greens like kale and mustards that are perfect for adding to soups and stews. While you can eat our braising mix raw as salad greens, we prefer cooking it for the best texture and flavor. Here’s a recipe that features autumnal flavors like maple and smoked paprika if you want to try it out this weekend.

We harvested and delivered 30 bunches of our roselle greens for Neill Elementary’s Harvest of the Month Program last week! This program is observed by all of the elementary schools in Fort Bend ISD and features a different vegetable or fruit each month. We loved being able to share our tangy roselle greens because they are truly one of our favorite summer crops. As we move further into fall, we’ll be able to start enjoying their edible pods as well! You can see them starting to form on our plants below.
