Farm Tour this Sunday!
March 27th, 2025

It’s been about 6 weeks since we transplanted the first tomatoes in the tunnel and we are happy to report that we’re seeing quite a bit of fruit development! As our tomatoes in both the tunnels and the field grow, it’s important to prune them regularly, especially when it comes to “suckers”. Suckers are small shoots that grow from points where a branch and the main stem of the plant meet. If you look at the photo below, you can see where Farmer Ky just removed one. Pruning off suckers helps redirect energy towards root and vertical growth as well as fruit development.

If you love tomatoes and want a sneak peek of this season’s crop, we invite you to join us for our monthly Meet the Farm Tour this Sunday, March 30th from 1-2pm! You’ll have the opportunity to see the progress of our field and tunnel tomatoes and learn the difference between the two trellising methods we use. Our tours always come with a taste-test of some of the crops that are currently in season in addition to the opportunity to see what’s on the harvesting horizon. Our tours are open to the public and free of charge but space is limited in order to provide the best experience possible. Make sure to sign up here if you’re interested.

Did you know we planted a fig orchard in 2023 with the help of our community? Twice a year we invite everyone to come volunteer with us to beautify the orchard and the next opportunity is coming up on Saturday, April 5th from 9am-noon! This volunteer opportunity will involve weeding and applying a fresh layer of mulch around our trees. All snacks, water, and tools will be provided but we recommend bringing a pair of work gloves to protect your hands. This opportunity is open to the public but in order to ensure we have enough supplies, we request that you sign up here if you plan on attending.
