Farm Team Updates

July 14th, 2023

As you’ve seen over the past couple of weeks, our Farm Team has gone through some changes as we bade Daphne adieu and welcomed Courtney in her place. We are excited to announce that our Farm Manager Nick will be transitioning to the role of Director of Operations for Texas within Agmenity! Nick’s genuine passion for growing food for people has helped turn Harvest Green into a true model for community farming --- not only in the Houston area but all agrihoods nationwide. With Agmenity's recent expansion into Florida, Nick will become the Director of Operations for Texas. In this position, he will play a critical role in supporting all of Agmenity’s Texas farms and will continue to have a regular presence here at the Village Farm.

Nick's new role created the opportunity for Nathan to transition into the Farm Manager position and Bethany to become the Assistant Farm Manager. Nathan's keen intellect, genuine care for others, and positive presence at Village Farm over the past 3 years has been instrumental to its success from both an agricultural side as well as with expanding the community programming offerings (including the amazing bird initiatives!!). We are super excited to have him now lead the farm with Bethany, who herself is a truly dynamic and kind human that does extraordinary work in both the fields and with the community.

With Nick transitioning to his new role, we were able to welcome John-Michael to the Village Farm Team! Originally from the Richmond area, John-Michael’s interest in agriculture was piqued when he began experimenting with sustainable off-grid living after graduating from high school. His travels led him to Hawai’i where he was able to live within a community that cultivated their own food using the tenets of permaculture. John-Michael eventually left Hawai’i in order to move back to Texas to be closer to family as he raises his daughter. He’s excited to be part of the Farm Team and can’t wait to help reinstate our orchard and help strengthen the farm’s connection with our community.
