Earth Day Market this Saturday!
April 18th, 2024
We hope you plan on joining us for our Earth Day Market this Saturday, April 20th, from 9am-1pm! You’ll have the opportunity to help beautify the farm’s habitat during the Oyster Creek cleanup at 10am. In addition to the creek cleanup, you can visit with our resident farm animals and plant microgreens and herbs for spring at our seeding station. Before you leave, don’t forget to pick up some of our organic produce at the Farm Stand and support the local businesses at our Farmers Market. This event is open to the public and free of charge.
Cucumbers are officially back in season! We’re currently harvesting two different slicing varieties from our first succession in the tunnel: Socrates and Paraiso. Socrates (below left) has smooth skin while Paraiso (below right) has bumpy skin and is a slightly darker shade of green. Both of these varieties are equally delicious and can be enjoyed in a multitude of ways. Farmer Nathan recommends trying this sauteed salmon with brown butter cucumbers.
We’re seeing baby fruits on both our field and tunnel pepper plants which means they will be arriving at the Farm Stand very soon! We anticipate harvesting our peppers in two different waves as they mature over the next few weeks. The first wave will be made up of shishitos, jalapenos, and banana peppers while the second wave will be our sweet and snacking varieties along with bell peppers. Expect to see shishitos, jalapenos, and banana peppers at the Farm Stand by the end of the month!
