Community Fig Orchard Day this Saturday!
November 14th, 2024
Our Community Fig Orchard Beautification Day is coming up this Saturday, November 16th from 9am-12pm and we would love for you to join us if you’re free! All of our fig trees are doing well and while they’re not mature enough to yield a healthy harvest, there is plenty we can do to help them through the winter. With your help, we’ll be weeding and adding a fresh layer of mulch and compost in order to keep our trees happy and healthy. All you need to do is show up with some gardening gloves if you’d like to keep your hands protected. We’ll provide the tools and snacks to power you through the morning! This event is open to the public but we ask that you sign up here beforehand to ensure we have plenty of snacks and water for you.
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, we will not have our regularly scheduled Farm Stand and Farmers Market on November 23rd or 30th. In lieu of those markets, we will have a very special Thanksgiving Farm Stand and Holiday Market at The Farmhouse on Tuesday, November 24th from 5-8pm! In addition to picking up a delicious variety of produce for your holiday meal, you'll be able to stock up on coffee beans, eggs, bread, and much more for holiday meals and gifting from our local artisanal vendors. If you get hungry, The Lobster Food Truck will be parked outside! This event is open to the public and will be held at The Farmhouse at 3400 Harvest Corner Drive.
The moment many of you have been waiting for has arrived…carrots are back in season! We harvested the first batch of them this week and they are sweet and crunchy. Since this is the first harvest, we will have a limited quantity available at the Farm Stand this Saturday so first come, first served! We might be biased, but we think they have unparalleled flavor to the carrots you can find at the grocery store. One of our favorite ways to enjoy them is to roast them with a touch of maple syrup and sea salt to really enhance their sweetness.
