SWEET POTATO HARVEST

A Sweet Potato Harvest for residents this Saturday allowed the community to assist the farmers in their largest summer harvest. Hours of preparation allowed for a smooth evening of digging and bagging sweet potatoes with friends.

All the work paid off with about 600 lbs of sweet potatoes harvested! A BIG thank you to our volunteers for all of their hard work, completing this harvest in record time! Some of the sweet potatoes will be kept to serve as seed stock for next year's planting. This is a way to grow more expensive, rarer, or exotic varieties without paying a premium to a supplier each year. Each volunteer went home with some authentic farm soil on their knees and hands, a big smile, and some fruits of their labor.
